As of 1 October, Central Bedfordshire libraries have changed their opening hours.
Following a public consultation last year, the council responded to residents’ views and have realigned opening hours across its libraries.
Despite having to work with reduced funding, the council is bucking the national trend by ensuring all of its libraries remain open, and some will even have longer opening hours.
In fact, all 12 libraries will now be conveniently open from 9-4 every Saturday, which means that more people will be able to use them on the weekend.
From 1 October the Central Bedfordshire libraries will be placed into three categories, with consistent opening hours within each category.
There will be community libraries (Ampthill, Barton, Potton, Stotfold and Toddington); area libraries (Biggleswade, Flitwick, Houghton Regis, Sandy, Shefford); and main libraries (Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard).
